October update

I had a crazy month so unfortuantely dropped off the blog post bandwagon for awhile. However fortunately the exercise routines have still be in place (generally) so I'm happy to say that.

I think my biggest battle .. even after almost 10 months of really focusing on healthy eating .. my biggest battle continues to be stress and eating. I have had VERY, VERY busy weeks at work, late nights (not enough sleep). My whole body shuts down and feels gross when it's in this state. Unfortunately I respond sometimes by overcaffinating myself (to stay awake) and not making time to plan food and eating acccordingly (not good!).

I'm still trying to find ways to cope with all this ... so ideas and suggestions are welcomed. My trainer tells me to exercise instead of eat when stressed and I 100% know that exercise does relieve stress .. but unfortuantely when I'm stressed and busy exercise takes a lot longer than eating something that I shouldn't. No excuses though .. just putting it out there as I'm sure everybody can relate.

Alas .. celebrating as I've lost 4 pounds since last post. Making me 11 pounds from my Dec 24th goal. On track I think. They say these little goals are helpful.

In closing I want to share a story that inspired me. It was of a 100 year old man who competed in the Toronto Marathon on the weekend and beat records. We're talking about a man who is 100 (and he ran his first marathon at 89). This man is proof that at any age and in any life situation if you want it badly enough you can MAKE the change. Your age and current health state should not deter you from reaching your goals.

Please take the time to read this article. You WILL be inspired.

This man's trainer says "In the Punjabi language, there is no such word as impossible." I couldn't have said it better myself. If you set your mind to something .. you can achieve it.

Putting a picture of my very own first 5km run in May 2010 along side the 100 year old man. I completed that 5km run at least 30 pounds heavier than I am now. Looking forward to doing some other different races etc. ... maybe a cycling event? Regardless I celebrated when I ran the 5km ... but let's be honest .. this 100 year old man's marathon is slightly more impressive ;) I guess that's why there's a news story about him. This picture is an additional part of my inspiration board so I can stay motivated and not give up!

Thanks for reading and all your supportive words. I really do have the best co-workers, friends and family around.
